We cannot blame ourselves for what we cannot see.
Painful or stressful experiences create a negative mindset, and we focus on what has gone wrong. Our inner dialogue gets locked in a loop, and we doubt ourselves and lose confidence in our ability to cope.
Successful therapy will help you recognise how that dialogue affects you and empower you to connect with yourself in a more loving and compassionate voice. Counselling empowers us to better understand the messages being written and spoken by our minds and our bodies. Counselling gives us the tools to learn how to accept these messages and replace them with more helpful stories.
Understanding our own behaviour and taking responsibility for it builds self-knowledge. Self-knowledge requires us to think a little less about what we want from others and rather more about what we are doing or being. It is a process that asks more of us but returns power to where it belongs - within you!
