Counselling Support for Health Challenges

Face-to-face on the Tweed Coast and online across Australia

What if you could meet your body where it is today?

We often take our body — and all it does for us — for granted. Until it stops doing what we need it to do and life starts needing adjustments. No matter at what stage in our lives, living with health challenges can change so much about our daily life. It can bring uncertainty, frustration, grief, or the slow realisation that life might not be the way it was 'before'.

In our work together, there's no pressure to be positive, to push yourself, or to "get back" to what you used to be able to do. Let's make room for what's here now, explore ways to live alongside it, and find the pockets of acceptance that make each day a little lighter to carry.

MY APPROACH

Living with illness or health conditions can be physically, mentally, and spiritually complex. It's not just the symptoms —- it's the loss of control, shifts in identity, and the challenge of staying connected to meaning and self in the face of change. Reaching out for support is a meaningful step in caring for your emotional wellbeing — your own or that of someone you love — especially when so much feels outside your control. Counselling offers space not only to acknowledge what you're carrying, but to honour resilience, questions, and to explore what supports you best in living with these changes. At Headstrong, I offer a grounded, compassionate space to explore how illness or health conditions are shaping your life and those closest to you —not just physically, but emotionally, relationally, and personally. I have lived with chronic health conditions since early childhood, one of which is visible on my body. This experience informs the way I hold space for clients navigating health-related changes. Whether recently diagnosed or living with a long-term condition, we'll work together in whatever way you need — individually, as a couple, or as a family — to reconnect with steadiness, meaning, and emotional grounding — even when uncertainty remains.

I can help you

  • Work through anger, fear, or grief connected to your diagnosis or treatment

  • Process trauma that may be linked to your injury, disability, or chronic pain

  • Reimagine your sense of self and identity beyond what you are living with and how you are coping

  • Strengthen communication and boundaries with caregivers, family, and professionals

  • Develop practices to support self-regulation, self-awareness, and dignity

  • Reflect on the emotional impact of aging, limitation, and bodily change
